We've had an interesting leaf-watching season, from the early change in some species to the strong winds of Hurricane Sandy. Colorful leaves now blanket the forest floor in most mountain parks; however, some parks at lower elevations have a few trees hanging onto their foliage. Now that the canopy is open, hikers will enjoy unobstructed views into the forest and colorful leaves crunching under boots. Look for moss-covered boulders and unusual tree shapes, as well as deer and other wildlife. Before you go, browse our accommodations to make reservations because cabins, lodge rooms and campsites go quickly!
